Pursuing Master’s in Counseling - Art Therapy

Hi, I’m Cait (she/her)! I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Counseling – Art Therapy at PennWest University.

My experience includes working in education for 6+ years, primarily with teenage English Language Learners. I am a mixed media artist and especially love creating art with flowers and other natural materials. I see art-making as an opportunity to tap into the inherent benefits of creativity and build connections with the self and others. Creating art can facilitate storytelling, make space to express a wide range of emotions, and empower us to envision different possibilities for our futures.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor in Interdisciplinary Sciences from Georgia State University
  • Pursuing Master’s in Counseling

My Approach

I believe art can play a powerful role in processing and healing both personal and collective trauma. My approach to art therapy is trauma-informed and grounded in a holistic understanding of wellness – taking into account the mind-body connection, the health of our relationships and communities, and the effects of systemic injustices. I strive to embody cultural humility and hold awareness of oppressive systems through an intersectional lens. I celebrate the diversity of humanity and stand for collective liberation, for folks of all races, genders, sexualities, and abilities to live safe and full lives.

I look forward to making art and processing life together. I hope to serve as a guide and source of encouragement as we co-create spaces of genuine connection, healing, and growth.
