DESCRIPTION:Visible Mending \nLearn basic sewing skills to creatively repair your clothing and make it more your own. Join Ann Marie for a relaxing evening of caring for yourself and the earth through the simple act of hand stitching. This is an invitation to slow down and explore how small\, deliberate actions can make a difference over time.\nEach session introduces one of three visible mending approaches: \n\nSashiko: Explore a Japanese stitching tradition using of simple running stitches to mend\nin a way that is both functionally strong and decoratively expressive\nScotch Darning: Learn how to blanket-stitch to embellish and strengthen worn areas or\ncreate a decorative hem.\nSpeedweve: A weaving approach using a small loom to patch and repair (individual\nlooms provided for learning in class; similar looms are readily available online). This\nmethod is great for darning socks and other knits\, as well as woven materials.\n\nThis week: SPEEDWEVE – Learn to use a Speedweve mending loom to create woven patches for repair and embellishment. Ann Marie will introduce a warp-and-weft approach\, with all materials provided so you can experiment freely on a practice patch. As we stitch\, we’ll make room to reflect on repair\, making amends\, and caring for ourselves and the earth. An invitation to slow down and explore what small\, deliberate actions can make possible. DESCRIPTION:Visual Journaling is a way of having a dialogue with yourself using images and words. It’s open to anyone\, regardless of art experience. We’ll begin by making the journal itself as a creative\, upcycling practice. Each session includes a prompt and a process for exploring your response in meditative ways\, such as collage\, stamping\, or simple mark-making with line\, color\, and shape. What you create goes home with you\, offering a tangible reminder of this practice and a way to continue it beyond class. Attending more than once offers opportunities to try new ways of making journals and to explore different prompts. \nArtist & art therapist intern Ann Marie will guide you through a new visual journaling skill and prompt each week. \nOffered on the first and third Monday of the month \nTo Register CLICK HERE
