Ann Marie
Art Therapist: ATR-P, Artist
Hi, I’m Ann Marie (she/her). I’m an art therapy intern at Lesley University, currently completing my Master’s degree under the supervision of Nancy Morales, ATR-BC, LPC.
Originally from Atlanta, I spent many years living in Kenya, where I began a teaching career that spanned more than two decades. I came to art therapy later in life, through my own experience of finding comfort, meaning, and direction in creative expression during difficult times. I wear the label “artist” lightly, but I’m curious about all kinds of artmaking—especially clay, collage, assemblage, printing/stamping, fiber, and digital media. I identify as neurodivergent and am committed to cultural humility and lifelong learning.

My Approach
My clinical work is grounded in the neurodiversity-affirming paradigm, Relational Cultural Theory, and trauma-informed, person-centered practices. I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and expressive arts frameworks to support participants in building authentic, growth-oriented relationships—with themselves and with others. I’m particularly interested in working with ND adolescents and adults who are exploring identity, emotional regulation, and self-advocacy.
No matter where you are in your life or what changes you’re seeking, I invite you to explore the sometimes messy, often joyful, head/heart/hands process of art therapy with me!
