Visual Journaling

Visual journaling is a creative practice that facilitates reflection through a combination of words and images, using a range of artistic mediums. Visual journals can include sketches, collages, poems, scribbling, hand lettering, stickers, lists, assorted ephemera, and much more. Anyone can keep a visual journal, no matter your artistic background and skills. All can benefit from this practice of processing emotions, thoughts, and life experiences through visual exploration.

The class will introduce you to various visual journal formats – from altering existing books to binding together recycled papers into junk journals. Artist & art therapy intern Cait Fogerty will guide you through a new visual journaling skill and prompt each week, providing support and encouragement along the way. Participants will then be invited to share their pages with the group if they wish. Join any week or for many weeks! Bring your curiosity and explore the mental and emotional benefits of arts-based processing.
